Mission, Vision & Values

The 1871 Foundation of Atlanta exists to empower communities through charitable giving, educational support, and civic engagement. As the philanthropic arm of St. James Lodge #4, our mission is rooted in Masonic principles of brotherhood, relief, and truth — extending a hand to those in need and building a stronger, more equitable Atlanta.

We envision an Atlanta where historically underserved communities have equal access to opportunity, education, and a legacy of generational progress. The 1871 Foundation serves as a bridge between the past and future — honoring the historical contributions of Black Freemasonry while planting seeds of empowerment for the next generation.
